I’m still emotional after that. Katie was amazing.
I suppose that’s what makes me an Irishman. I tried but failed to stop the tears when her arm was raised at the end in Gold medal position.
Made me proud.
As FJH says we’re great at fighting and riding.

i think a big hand has to be given to all the female boxers, who gave the best reply to the dated criticism of the sport.

Dub, they were as technical as any male. People like Anne Quinlan have been years ahead of this in Muay Thai as long ago as the 80’s. It’s like the thing with women riding side saddle or running 10,000 or the marathon. Funny how there was no issue about women kicking eachother in the head in the Taekwondo in the Olympics, the leg being up to 5 times more powerful than the arms

Here’s an issue on the Olympics, and a big one IMHO, Australia. WOW!!! What’s happened there?

I can honestly say that Katie Taylor’s success in the last 3/4 years was one of the reasons my daughter does Karate . She was graded for her orange belt a few months ago in the same community centre that Katie Taylor used as a kid in Bray . It helps that she’s half thai ( my daughter not Katie taylor ) and a few uncles practice Muay Thai …there’s always a few uncles , lol .
